ACT890SS and ACT880SS are tape backup systems based on the newestgeneration of 8mm helical scan drives. The products are housed in atabletop shoebox or rackmount enclosure for operation off a SCSI port.ACT890SS has 5-GB capacity and plus integral IDRC data compression, whichaffords very high recording density and high storage capacity. At 2:1compression, data throughput is 1 MB per second on average. A front panelstatus display keeps users informed of amount of tape remaining, errorrate, compression ratio and tape drive mode. A software driver is notrequired. Options include dual-drive configuration, and a 10-cartridgeautoloader that extends unattended backup capacity to 100GB.
